NCERT Textbooks: School students across the country will now have access to textbooks in their mother tongue. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will assist in developing textbooks for mother tongue education. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has signed an agreement with IIT Madras for this purpose.

This collaboration will utilize artificial intelligence, machine learning, and information technology for student learning, teacher training, and the development of digital courseware. Union School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar stated that this will promote technological innovation and collaborative research in education.

The objective of this collaboration is to improve access, inclusivity, and quality in the educational ecosystem through cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

He stated that this collaborative effort is crucial to realizing the vision and goals of the new National Education Policy (NEP) and the new National Curriculum Framework. To ensure children are educated in their mother tongue, all textbooks need to be digitized and made available in the 22 scheduled languages.

There is a need to develop Personally Adaptive Learning (PAL) and also to develop good pedagogical and technological tools to meet future skill requirements using AI tools, he said.
