David Beckham has been accused of begging for his way to knighthood after the legendary football star was knighted at Windsor Castle for his services to sport and charity. The 50-year-old finally became a 'sir' in front of his wife, Victoria, and his parents, as he received his honour from King Charles. However, this comes after years of missing out after his chances were reportedly squandered when his emails were leaked.
Before finally being selected in the King's Birthday Honours list, the former England captain is widely regarded as a sir-in-waiting after enjoying a remarkable footballing career, both on and off the pitch. During his career, David won trophies in England, Spain, France and the US - including the Champions League with Manchester United. He became a British cultural icon and a global ambassador for the sport. However, as the photo of David beaming with pride while being knighted circulated on the internet, Good Morning Britain star Narinder Kaur shared her thoughts on X.
The commentator wrote: "You all laugh at me when I beg it for Loose Women or Strictly but... If he can beg it and annoy his way to greatness, then I absolutely can too. Don't stop me now! (Congratulations to David)."
However, Narider was hit with backlash for her sentiments as people took to her comments to praise David.
One penned: "A fantastic role model and a great ambassador for the country. When you think of some of the a***s that have been knighted, he actually deserves it."
Another fumed: "How have you turned David Beckham being knighted into a post about yourself, you self-obsessed, cretinous, hairy-flapped menace???"
"He captained the England football team and has worked tirelessly for charities. You only care about YOU, Narinda.. Try looking around a bit," said a third.
As another pointed out: "He's raised millions for several charities, helped underprivileged children get into sports, how on earth is that 'begging it'? Who are you and what have you done again?"
Narinder's plea to join Strictly comes just months after she accused the show's boss of racism after she was rejected for being "too controversial" when they'd announced Thomas Skinner as a contestant.
In a video, she ranted: "I am so raging right now with the BBC, I'm so over the BBC. You've just apologised to Robert Jenrick and you've just taken on Thomas Skinner for Strictly Come Dancing.
"Now I'll tell you my problem here, and you're going to say, 'Oh she's so bitter', you can do that all day long, I'm okay with that. Strictly Come Dancing won't take me on, we approached them and I was told by a producer, 'You're a bit too controversial, we don't need that for the show'. I accept that.
"But god forbid you're a brown woman who has some opinions, then they'll never take you on. But if you're a white man, Thomas Skinner, proud patriot of the online right who's got a criminal past, charged with theft, you're all right."
