A 1957 wartime film, described as an absolute masterpiece with no flaws, is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime. Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick, boasts an impressive score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.4 stars on IMDb, with the film's description reading: "A colonel defends three of his soldiers in a court-martial after they abandon a suicidal attack."
Over on Rotten Tomatoes, where the World War 1 film boasts an outstanding rating, both critics and viewers have sung its praises, making mention of the film as gripping and some of the greatest pieces of work in its genre.
Seventh Art Studio wrote: "I can't even begin to imagine how Kubrick made this movie. I was perplexed the entire time. An absolute masterpiece."
Film Frenzy said: "Arguably the greatest antiwar film ever made, Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory feels like a mule kick to the stomach no matter how many times one has seen it."
Viewers were also blown away by the film, with one who watched it just a few months ago describing it as "classic and iconic in every way".
Another claimed that it is "one of the best war films ever and the best look at military justice," while another dubbed it a "masterpiece".
The masterpiece title is one that is commonly mentioned throughout many audience reviews written by impressed film fans. However, there was one fan who not only holds the film in high regard but actually says it is perfect.
They said: "In my top 5 favourite films of all time, and my favourite WWI film, PATHS OF GLORY completely shocked me with its intricacy, emotion, humanity, complexity, and unflinchingly realistic portrayal of human darkness, selfishness, and corruption. It's a completely unflawed film."
